Dorothea Schäfer, Prof. Dr., is Research Director Financial Markets at the German Institute for Economic Research DIW Berlin and is Adjunct Professor at Jönköping University – Jönköping International Business School (Economics). She achieved her Diploma in Economics at the Ludwig Maximilians-Universität München (Munich) and her PhD and habilitation degree at the Freie Universität Berlin where she also held the position of an assistant professor of finance. Schäfer has been the head of various research projects funded e.g. by the German Research Foundation (DFG), the European Commission, the Stiftung Geld und Währung and the research arm of the DSGV (German Savings Bank Association). She has published in the International Review of Economics & Finance, Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions & Money, Journal of International Money and Finance, European Journal of Finance, Small Business Economics, Journal of Financial Stability, Journal of Institutional and Theoretical Economics, Economics of Transition, and many other Journals. She was an expert for many committees, including the Bundestag’s Committee on Finance. She is Editor-in- Chief of the Eurasian Economic Review (EAER) and the Vierteljahrshefte zur Wirtschaftsforschung (Quarterly Journal for Economic Research). Her main research interests are Banking Regulation, Stability and Resilience of Financial Systems, Sustainable/Green Finance, Financial Constraints, Financial Decision Making and Risk Attitude in Private Households.
