Dr. Donghyun PARK is currently Economic Advisor for Strategic Knowledge Initiatives at the Economic Research and Regional Cooperation Department (ERCD) of the Asian Development Bank (ADB). Prior to joining ADB in 2007, he was a tenured Associate Professor of Economics at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore, which is consistently ranked as one of Asia’s top universities. Dr. Park has a B.A. in economics and foreign affairs from the University of Virginia and a Ph.D. in economics from UCLA. His main research fields are international finance, international trade, and development economics. His research, which has been published extensively in journals and books, revolves around policy-oriented topics relevant for Asia’s long-term development. These topics include innovation, entrepreneurship, green growth, fiscal policy, population aging, middle-income trap, financial sector development, and service sector development. Dr. Park is Managing Editor of the Asian Development Review, ADB’s economics journal. In addition, he is an Associate Editor of Singapore Economic Review and Korea and the World Economy. He is the author of two books—Capitalism in the 21st Century and Post-COVID Asia. Dr. Park’s current research areas include leveraging digital technology for entrepreneurship, deploying fiscal policy for sustainable growth, and ensuring healthy and productive old age.
