Sayuri SHIRAI is currently a professor at the Faculty of Policy Management, Keio University. She is also a visiting fellow at the Asian Development Bank Institute, working on climate and fiannce in the context of develoing contries as a member of Think7. She is also an adivisor to Nomura Reserach Center for Sustainability and Nissin Oillio Group. Previously, she was a senior advisor to EOS at Federated Hermes located in London in 2020-2021, which provides ESG stewardship services on listed companies and public policy globally. She was a Member of the Policy Board of the Bank of Japan (BOJ) in 2011-2016, which is responsible for making monetary policy decisions. She also taught at Sciences Po in Paris in 2007–2008 and was an economist at the IMF in 1993-1998. She holds Ph.D. in Economics from Columbia University. She is the author of numerous books and papers on a variety of subjects including ESG investment, monetary policy, CBDC, and global macroeconomy and finance. She frequently comments on Japan’s economy and global economic policies and development at varoius influencial international and domestic TV programs and other media. Her latest book titled “SDGs Finane” (in Japanese) was published by Nikkei BP in September 2022. Another book titled “Global Trends Related to Cabon Neutrality: Policy, Money, and Civil Socieety” (in Japanese) was published in July 2022 by Bunshindo. Her English book titled Growing Central Bank Challenges in the World and Japan was published by the Asian Development Bank Institute in June 2020 (free download available).
